PITTSFIELD — Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Berkshire Health Systems now provides patients with access to state-of-the-art, laser-based technology that can be used for numerous cosmetic surgical procedures designed to eliminate or minimize skin conditions.
“This is one of the most advanced and safe clinical lasers in the world for cosmetic surgery,” said Dr. Rodrigo Santamarina, describing the Lumenis One system. “With virtually painless procedures, we can get our patients back to their normal routines immediately and reduce the effects of sun damage and other skin issues.”
The laser system can be used to treat spider veins, hemangiomas, and birthmarks, and its Intense Pulse Light can provide facial, neck, and hand rejuvenation, as well as treat rosacea. This technique reduces dark or red spots in the skin due to sun damage, and can even out skin tones. In addition, a Light Sheer laser is available for hair removal, with a permanent reduction in hair after every treatment.
Santamarina is also using Aluma technology, providing a new treatment called FACES, which stands for Functional Aspirtation Controlled Electrothermal Stimulation. This features energy being delivered to the deep layers of the skin in order to reduce fine lines and to regenerate collagen to achieve smoother skin and to treat wrinkles. The Aluma treatment is ideal for crow’s feet and other wrinkles that can develop around the eyes and neck.
“These are short treatments, lasting around a half-hour,” said Santamarina. “At least four such treatments are necessary to reach ideal and lasting results.” |
