Big Y Kicks Off Partners of Hope Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
SPRINGFIELD — Big Y has launched its annual Partners of Hope campaign, a heartfelt initiative held each October to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and treatment. Through this campaign, Big Y provides vital support to local breast cancer organizations, hospitals, and medical centers.
To participate, customers can purchase a Partners of Hope ribbon for $1 when checking out at any Big Y location or donate directly at www.bigy.com/community/breast-cancer-awareness, now through Oct. 22.
All proceeds from Big Y’s Partners of Hope Campaign are donated to 33 local breast cancer support groups throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut, including nine in Western Mass.: UMass Amherst Protect Our Breasts Program; Holyoke Medical Center Women’s Center; Survivor Journeys Breast Cancer Program in Longmeadow; the Pink WAY in Ludlow; Cancer Connection and Cooley Dickinson Hospital Women’s Health Care, both in Northampton; Berkshire Medical Center Women’s Imaging Center in Pittsfield; and Baystate Health Foundation Rays of Hope and Mercy Medical Center Mercy Breast Care Center, both in Springfield.
Since 2007, the initiative has raised more than $3,000,000. In addition, many products have pink packaging, which indicates the products from which manufacturers will be donating a portion of their proceeds to breast cancer research and education throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“Every October, we’re reminded of the strength and resilience of those impacted by breast cancer,” said Richard Bossie, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Big Y. “Partners of Hope is more than a campaign; it’s a commitment to our community. By supporting local organizations and medical centers, we’re helping ensure that critical care and resources are within reach for those who need them most.”
