‘Black Lives/Black Lungs’ Screening, Discussion to Be Held on May 27
SPRINGFIELD — A Zoom presentation and discussion of the short film Black Lives/Black Lungs will take place on Thursday, May 27 from 5 to 6 p.m.
Nearly nine in 10 African-American smokers use menthol cigarettes. That’s no coincidence. Black Lives/Black Lungs is a short film investigating the tobacco industry’s successful infiltration into the black community. It was created by filmmaker and progressive communications strategist Lincoln Mondy.
This presentation is co-sponsored by the Hampden County Tobacco-Free Community Partnership, the Pioneer Valley Asthma Coalition, the Public Health Institute of Western Massachusetts, and Gándara Center.
