Buddy Baseball Kicks Off 30th Season on May 11
GREENFIELD — Buddy Baseball, a program for children and adults with disabilities (ages 6 and up) will be taking to the plate for its 30th season on Saturday, May 11 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Greenfield Middle School.
Buddy Baseball is a beloved pastime in Greenfield, welcoming individuals with disabilities to participate in lessons and practice for baseball and softball. This year, the Buddy Baseball team will be playing as the Lawn Mowers.
Games will be played on Saturdays beginning at 9:30 a.m. until June 22, which will conclude the season with a final game followed by a pizza party at the Green River Swimming Area.
Buddy Baseball would not be possible without volunteers, who serve as buddies and coaches. If interested in serving as a buddy or coach, contact Program Supervisor Shayla Demers at (413) 772-1553 or shayla.demers@greenfield-ma.gov.
“Buddy Baseball is a longstanding tradition in Greenfield that we are proud to support,” Recreation Director Christy Moore said. “We encourage everyone in the community to cheer the team on or participate as a volunteer.”
