| NORTHAMPTON — Cooley Dickinson Hospital’s laboratory has been awarded accreditation from the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation from the College of American Pathology (CAP). The facility was recognized for providing high-quality laboratory services.
The hospital’s main laboratory, located on the campus of Cooley Dickinson Hospital on Locust Street, Northampton, was one of a select group of laboratories that had been evaluated and found to be in compliance with the CAP accreditation standards. The rigorous laboratory standards are designed to help ensure quality patient care.
Laboratory services at Cooley Dickinson encompasses nine specialty areas including microbiology, hematology, chemistry, blood bank, transfusion, cytology, surgical pathology, urinalysis, and immunology. The department is staffed around the clock, every day of the year by 85 employees. Three pathologists, Lisa Glantz, MD, Guy Marrocco, MD and Peter Christakos, MD also work as part of the Laboratory team.
