CDH Offers Rehab Services at New Southampton Office
SOUTHAMPTON — Cooley Dickinson Hospital has opened a new Rehab Services office at the Big Y Plaza at 10 College Highway.
When the program outgrew its former Easthampton location, it found a new, larger home in Southampton. The new, 3,300-square-foot facility includes an open-floor-plan gym with large windows offering views of the Holyoke Range, suites for hand therapy and occupational therapy, as well as a spacious waiting room.
According to Colette Fellows, Occupational Therapy supervisor and project supervisor, “people seeking help for hand injuries and those needing evaluations for voice, communication, or swallowing impairments have access to services not previously offered in the Easthampton area. We look forward to taking care of community members who need these services and other forms of rehabilitation.”
In addition, therapists offer treatment for general orthopedic and sports medicine problems, lymphedema (a condition where legs and arms swell due to a block in the lymphatic system), and therapy to help with back pain and recovery from stroke.
A physician’s referral is needed for physical, occupational, or speech-language therapy. Therapists provide updates to each patient’s referring physician to keep him or her apprised of the patient’s progress. An open house is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13.
In addition to the Southampton facility, Cooley Dickinson Hospital offers rehabilitation-therapy services in Hadley, Northampton, South Deerfield, and Worthington.
Sharing space with Rehab Services in Southampton will be the Cooley Dickinson Patient Service Center, after it relocates from Easthampton in late October. The Patient Service Center provides routine and emergency lab testing of blood and other specimens. For more information, call (413) 527-7970 .
