CHD Outpatient Behavioral Health Services Expands

ATHOL — CHD Outpatient Behavioral Health Services has opened a satellite office for the convenience of Athol-area residents at 375 Main St., adjacent to Veterans Memorial Park.

Appointments are available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays by arrangement. The phone number is (978) 830-4120.

The established CHD clinic office at 131 West Main St. in Orange, will continue to serve the western region of the North Quabbin area. Services at the Athol site include evaluation of mental health and behavioral difficulties, substance-abuse problems, and individual, couples, and family therapy. The office also makes referrals for other behavioral-health needs, including medication services and CHD’s Therapeutic Mentoring program for children and teens. Treatment is covered by health insurance, including all forms of MassHealth and most commercial insurances, such as Blue Cross, Fallon, Aetna, Health New England, and many others.

CHD welcomes three highly qualified clinicians to the Athol site, including Jacqueline Foley, who will be moving from the Orange facility to Athol. She provides individual therapy for all ages and substance-abuse counseling and school consultation. CHD Athol also welcomes new staff clinicians Laurie Majka and Melissa Scherer. Majka specializes in mental-health services for preschoolers, elementary-age children, and parents of children with special needs. She also sees adults and teens. Scherer is certified in dialectical behavioral therapy and specializes in work with adolescents and court-involved youth and their families, as well as women’s mental-health issues.

Anita Bevis, administrative assistant, will staff the front office at 375 Main St. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Referrals for an initial evaluation can now be made at the Athol office, (978) 830-4120, during those hours, or by calling the Orange office at (978) 544-2148.
