Children’s Study Home Holds Virtual Annual Meeting, Shares Plans for Golf Fundraiser

SPRINGFIELD —  The Children’s Study Home held its 155th annual meeting on June 11. The meeting, held virtually due to COVID-19, welcomed more than 60 employees and board members. 

This year’s awards included the Madison Young Award for Compassion, given to Michelle Tyer; the Julian Darku Award for Courage, to Joe Bennetch; and the Team Award, to Facilities. Outstanding Employee Awards were given to Dan Beaudoin, IT manager; Tori Jennings, dean of Students at Mill Pond School Springfield; Dianne Lenox, family support worker; and Kevin McCoy, residential youth manager. 

The Children’s Study Home also honored Leslie Fisher-Katz, Charlie Gonzalez, Kim Monson, Christopher Langelier, Elizabeth Childs, Renee Balboni, Jane Beaulieu, Kathleen Caron, Paula Corridan, Patricia Holman, Nancy Marchand, Sherri Mickiewicz, Karen Sheldon, Jennifer Morrisino, Gloria Williams, Christine Young, Kristina Mulder, James Ryan-Wise, Nathien Dailey, and Kareem White for five years of service to the organization. 

The Children’s Study Home’s upcoming fundraising event is the 32nd annual Excel Golf Tournament to benefit the Children’s Study Home, which will be held at a new venue, the Country Club of Wilbraham, on Thursday, Aug. 20. Registration and brunch will begin at 9:30 a.m, with a shotgun start at 11 a.m.

Kara Wolters, Olympic gold medalist, NCAA champion, and WNBA champion, will speak at the tournament. She will bring her Olympic gold medal to take photos with the golf participants during cocktail hour at 4:30 p.m., followed by her speaking engagement during dinner at 5 p.m.

In supporting this year’s tournament, sponsors and participants will provide the opportunity for the Children’s Study Home to build a new pavilion behind the Administration building at 44 Sherman St. in Springfield.
