The Donald “Skip” Jandzinski Memorial Scholarship ($500) was created in 2009 by Mary Jandzinski, as a tribute to Skip and his deeply held belief in the importance of professional development and giving back to others. In recognition of his many years of service to the hospital, this scholarship is directed to part- and full-time employees working in the Laboratory department who are currently completing or registered to complete college-credit course work at an educational institution in the surrounding area toward advancement of their professional education in the medical field. Financial awards may be used for tuition, fees, required books, materials, or school transportation.
The Therese Connor Nursing Education Fund ($400) offers financial assistance on an annual basis to registered nurses at Cooley Dickinson. The fund is named in memory of Therese Connor, a nurse who worked at Cooley Dickinson Hospital for many years. The nursing professional must currently be certified in the oncology area to renew his or her certification (first preference), or beginning, engaged in, or completing course work for certification in oncology. In the absence of such individuals, nursing professionals seeking certification in another specialty area or renewal of existing certification would qualify.
The Louise Finn Nursing Scholarship ($500) is named in recognition of Louise Finn, a maternal and infant-care nurse at Cooley Dickinson Hospital for more than 54 years. The scholarship will be awarded to a child of a current Cooley Dickinson Health Care employee who is pursuing a career in nursing and is either currently accepted or enrolled in an accredited school of nursing (preferably located in the surrounding area), working to complete an associate’s degree, a three-year diploma, a bachelor’s degree, or a master’s degree in nursing.
The CDH School of Nursing Alumni Assoc. Scholarship ($600), in its 13th year, will once again be awarded to a deserving senior attending either Northampton High School or Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School, who is pursuing a degree in nursing.
The Edward Moss Memorial Scholarship ($500), established by the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy and endowed in 1966, is intended to provide financial assistance to a current Cooley Dickinson employee who is either currently accepted or enrolled full-time in an accredited school of nursing, or working to complete an associate’s degree, a three-year diploma, a bachelor’s degree, or a master’s degree in nursing.
Completed applications and accompanying essays should be received no later than Friday, April 7 and should be submitted via e-mail to development@cooley-dickinson.org or mailed to Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Development Office, P.O.
