Cooley Dickinson Hospital Issues New Visitor Restrictions

NORTHAMPTON — Cooley Dickinson Hospital has restricted visitors to most hospitalized patients. The new visitor policy has been put in place due to the increase of COVID-19 infection in the community.

For the safety of our patients and employees, inpatients can have one visitor per day. Nursing supervisors may make exceptions on a case-by-case basis, such as compassionate-care situations and end of life, support people for patients with intellectual or physical disabilities, and two parents or guardians for patients under age 18.

Visitors are not allowed to accompany patients having surgery or outpatient procedures; exceptions of one visitor are allowed for pediatric patients and those who are unable to make decisions for themselves. The visitor policy in the Childbirth Center does not change: one visitor is allowed in addition to a partner, spouse, or other support person.

Visiting hours are noon to 8 p.m. every day. The inpatient Behavioral Health unit has different visiting hours, which are weekdays from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. and weekends and holidays from 2 to 5 p.m.
