CRI Welcomes Two New Physicians to Local Team

Community Research Initiative of New England (CRI) has announced that Dr. Daniel Skiest and Dr. Armando Paez have recently joined its clinical HIV/AIDS research team in Springfield.

Skiest joins CRI as associate research director and HIV clinical investigator. Operating out of CRI’s Springfield office, Dr. Skiest serves as the Adult HIV Program director and a member of the Infectious Diseases Division at Baystate Medical Center.

“CRI is the perfect venue for my involvement,” Skiest said. “It really fits my goal to increase access to clinical HIV trials. Joining forces with CRI is great because it means I don’t have to reinvent the wheel; there’s already a very effective infrastructure in place to reach and treat people living with HIV.”

Paez recently completed an Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Baystate Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine and is now an infectious disease consultant in the same institution. He also joins CRI’s Springfield office as HIV clinical sub-investigator.

According to Paez, “Springfield is unique because there are so many HIV cases in the community. CRI enables me to reach out into the people in the community in a way other, larger organizations I’ve seen don’t.”
