Fortune Names East Village Place a Top Workplace in Aging Services
EAST LONGMEADOW — East Village Place, a Watermark Retirement Community, has been honored as one of the “50 Best Workplaces for Aging Services” in a national program conducted by the Great Place to Work Institute and published by Fortune.
The institute, which also produces the annual Fortune “100 Best Companies to Work For,” considered more than 3,000 Watermark employee surveys across East Village Place and Watermark’s 50 other locations around the country. East Village Place, located at 50 Benton Dr., East Longmeadow, has provided assisted living and two levels of memory care since 1999.
The Great Place to Work Institute, an independent research and consulting firm, evaluated more than 60 elements of associates’ experience on the job. These included employee pride in the organization’s community impact, belief that their work makes a difference, and feeling their work has special meaning. Rankings were based on the experiences of employees, from all roles and titles within the community. This year is the first time the institute compiled a “50 Best Workplaces” list for aging services.
“This rating is a great honor, but more importantly, it demonstrates that senior living is an excellent place to work and establish a career,” said East Village Place Executive Director Pam Skiba. “Our community prides itself on the longevity of our associates. A number of employees have been with us for over 10 years, some up to 19 years, and I have been here for 14 years and counting.”
Associates say reasons they have made their careers at East Village Place include the satisfaction they gain from caring for residents, the community’s family-like environment, and close bonds with their coworkers, Skiba added.
