Free Reiki Offered to Breast-cancer Patients, Survivors

GREENFIELD — Three local Reiki practitioners have obtained a grant from Rays of Hope – a Walk Toward the Cure of Breast Cancer, to offer free individual Reiki sessions to breast-cancer patients and survivors who live in Franklin County. Mary Blazejewski, Kate Wadleigh, and Laurie Batog will be available by appointment on Saturday mornings at 474 Main St., Suite 2, in Greenfield.

Reiki is described as a healing-energy therapy which can help provide relaxation and energy, decrease pain and anxiety, reduce side effects from invasive treatments, and expedite the healing process for post-operative breast cancer patients. Reiki is received through a series of light hand placements on the client’s fully clothed body. Blazejewski, a Reiki master, explained that “we use Reiki to help clear and balance the energy pathways, thus helping the body heal itself in a healthy and natural way.

“All our sessions are free to Franklin County breast cancer patients or survivors, at any phase of their breast cancer experiences,” she added. In-home Reiki sessions are also available on a limited basis for pre- and post-operative patients. Call to inquire about criteria to qualify for home sessions.

To schedule an appointment for a Reiki session, or for more information, contact Blazejewski at (413) 774-9927.
