HMC Expands Oncology & Hematology Services
HOLYOKE – Holyoke Medical Center is expanding its Oncology & Hematology services to provide greater access to high quality, compassionate cancer care for patients throughout the region.
The expansion will bring two experienced physicians to the HMC medical staff: Masih Farooqui, MD, and Subramony Subramonia Iyer, MD, MPH. Both physicians are expected to begin seeing patients in early November and will join Renuka Dulala, MD; Zubeena Mateen, MD; and Katarzyna Swistak, DNP, as part of HMC’s growing Oncology & Hematology team.
The expanded service will also include new Oncology & Hematology office locations in Holyoke and East Longmeadow providing patients with additional options for receiving care closer to home.

Farooqui completed his undergraduate education, medical school, and postgraduate training in Pakistan before moving to Western Mass. in 1990 where he continued his postgraduate medical training. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Oncology. He has practiced in the Springfield area for more than 30 years and brings extensive experience in caring for patients with cancer and blood disorders.
Iyer completed his undergraduate education and medical school in India before pursuing graduate studies in public health in the United Kingdom. He earned professional credentials through the Faculty of Public Health, including MFPH and FFPH.
He moved to the United States in 2007 and completed an internal medicine residency followed by a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology. Iyer is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Medical Oncology and Hematology and has practiced in the Springfield area for more than 14 years.
The expansion of HMC’s Oncology & Hematology services reflects the medical center’s continued commitment to increasing access to specialty care and providing patients with high-quality services in convenient, community-based locations.
