WARE — The public is invited to attend a free seminar discussing estate planning and elder law offered by Attorney Karen G. Jackson. The seminar will be held on Wednesday, May 19 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital, Main Conference Room, located on the second floor.
Jackson’s presentation will include information about basic estate planning, wills, durable power of attorney, living wills, the Homestead Act, caregiver agreements, and the importance of having a health care proxy. The will also be time during the program for participants to ask questions. Jackson, whose office is in Holyoke, has been an attorney since 1978 and has a practice that emphasizes elder law and estate planning. She served on the Board of the Alzheimer’s Assoc. from 1995 to 1998, and is a member of NAELA (the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys).
“This seminar will offer community members an opportunity to learn more about how to assist elders and caregivers to have a safe plan that will also give them control over personal and financial assets,” said Stasia Wozniak, medical social worker at the hospital. Wozniak also facilitates the caregiver and grieving support groups at the hospital.
