Lecture Tackles Heartburn, GERD
WARE — For some people, occasional heartburn is not serious and can be controlled by making some minor lifestyle changes. For others with regular heartburn, it can be a warning sign for a more serious condition called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Area women are invited to attend “When Heartburn Gets Serious,” a women’s-health lecture, on Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital in the Main Conference Room, located on the second floor of the hospital. The program will feature guest speaker Dr. Harbir Sawhney, gastroenterologist from Baystate Medical Practices – Quaboag Gastroenterology.
“Dr. Sawhney will discuss GERD and non-surgical and surgical ways to correct the reflux of acid from the stomach,” said Tracy Whitley, manager of Loyalty Programs and the Spirit of Women Program. “Following Dr. Sawhney’s presentation, participants will be offered a tour of the gastroenterology suites.”
The lecture is offered at no cost to area women and is sponsored by the Spirit of Women, a free loyalty program specifically designed for women, offering monthly seminars with direct access to physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals, and the latest women’s-health information, in a comfortable and lively setting.
