Mercy Medical Announces Partnership With Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness

SPRINGFIELD — Mercy Medical Center recently announced a new partnership with Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness to serve the communities’ growing medical and exercise needs in West Springfield and East Longmeadow. The newly renovated fitness facilities of Healthtrax will include physical rehabilitation, community health education classrooms, and Comprehensive Weight Management Program offered by Mercy Medical Center.

“Mercy is excited to be able to bring clinical services out to these communities. It fits with our mission of providing access to high quality care and service to the patients we serve,” said James E. Fanale, M.D., Chief Medical Officer for the Sisters of Providence Health System, and COO of Mercy Medical Center.

Both Healthtrax locations feature trainer-assisted 20-minute workouts; an extensive collection of new strength and cardiovascular equipment; group exercise studios for Pilates, yoga and aerobics; a swimming pool and whirlpool; family friendly programs and facilities including a Youth Activity Center and family change area, and other various amenities.

“We welcome the team of health professionals from Mercy Medical Center in joining the Healthtrax fitness professionals to provide comprehensive care and fitness services. These two new wellness centers will benefit everyone in these communities by offering a range of fitness programs and clinical services. Especially exciting is that the East Longmeadow location is in the heart of the new village being constructed,” said Bob Stauble, Healthtrax chief development officer.

Mercy Medical Center and Healthtrax plan to work together to serve each community with a medical and fitness center providing education, prevention and treatment alternatives all under one roof.

Both Healthtrax locations are open and invite the public to take a tour and a free trial day of exercise. The clinical and wellness services offered by Mercy Medical Center will begin late this summer. The wellness centers will offer health education classes on many topics including weight management, fitness programs, diabetes, arthritis, back pain, stroke prevention, and smoking cessation. Speakers will be available to civic groups and schools in an effort to serve as a ‘center without walls’ to the surrounding towns.
