Mercy Medical Center to Dedicate Nurses Garden on May 11
SPRINGFIELD — The 2021 National Nurses Week theme, “You Make a Difference,” recognizes the importance of ethics in nursing and acknowledges the strong commitment, compassion, and care nurses display in their practice and profession.
Mercy Medical Center’s celebration of National Nurses Week will include the dedication of a new Nurses Garden at the hospital’s front entrance on Tuesday, May 11 at 9 a.m. The ceremony will feature remarks by Deborah Bitsoli, president of Mercy Medical Center, and Sr. Mary Caritas, Mercy board member, former Mercy Hospital president, and 1945 graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing. The dedication of the Nurses Garden will honor the commitment of past, present, and graduating nurses.
“Our caring nurses have a tremendous impact on the lives of our patients and our patients’ families every day, leaving no doubt as to their commitment to outstanding clinical care and service excellence,” Bitsoli said. “The dedication of the Nurses Garden provides an opportunity to express our thanks for the integral role nurses have in the healing process. We are blessed to have such a wonderful team and are grateful to all of them for allowing us to carry on the heritage and tradition of our founders, the Sisters of Providence.”
