NAMI Western Massachusetts Selected as Stop & Shop Community Bag Program Beneficiary

AGAWAM — The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Western Massachusetts (NAMI-WM) has been selected as the beneficiary of the Stop & Shop Community Bag Program for the month of September.

The program, which launched in May 2019, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work. NAMI-WM was selected as the September beneficiary of the program by store leadership at the Stop & Shop located at 1282 Springfield St., Feeding Hills. NAMI-WM will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.50 reusable community bag is purchased at this location during September, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the giving tag attached to the bag.

“We are very excited about being chosen as the September recipient of donations from the Community Bag Program,” said Donna Bunn, president of NAMI Western Massachusetts. “The pandemic has greatly affected our fundraising efforts, and we are hopeful that this program will help raise some much-needed funds as well as make an impact on the environment.”

NAMI Western Massachusetts is a nonprofit based in Agawam. Founded in 1982, NAMI-WM continues to provide education, advocacy, and support programs for those affected by mental-health challenges.
