All Washed Up

Students from Smith Vocational High School’s health technology class recently faced off against adults representing the business community in a handwashing challenge that was part of the recent National Patient Week at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Here, the students react to the news that they’ve beaten their opponents — John Ebbets, Hampshire County United Way; Jim Foudy, Daily Hampshire Gazette; Doug Burr, Florence Savings Bank; Kathy Long, Smith Vocational; and Nancy Pagano, with the Amherst Senior Center.

Community Health Fair

The annual Community Health Fair, offered by the senior class in the School of Nursing at Springfield Technical Community College and staged April 14, featured information booths, demonstrations, and presentations on subjects such as asthma, eating disorders, maternal health, child safety, stress reduction, diabetes, and substance abuse. Above, students show young visitors how to perform CPR. At right, at the child-safety booth, students show attendees how to safely bathe an infant.
