Red Cross Golf Tourney Raises $32k for Disaster Relief
SOUTHWICK — The 18th annual Red Cross Golf Tournament was staged June 23 at the Ranch Golf Club, raising more than $32,000. Despite steady rain, golfers came out in great numbers and in high spirits to support the American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter.
Participants included leadership sponsors Pellegrini, Seeley, Ryan and Blakesley, P.C. (title sponsor); Polish National Credit Union (a.m. tournament sponsor); OMG Inc. (lunch sponsor), and AXiA Insurance Group (p.m. tournament sponsor).
Nearly 170 golfers spent the day at the Ranch, complete with lunch and 18 holes of golf (the afternoon game was called at nine holes due to the rain, and all players received a certificate to play nine holes at the Ranch on a future date), a putting contest, raffles, an auction, door prizes, and an awards dinner. Golf Committee Chair William Trudeau of Insurance Center of New England was master of ceremonies for the evening’s events.
The winning team, from Chicopee Savings Charitable Foundation, included Luke Kettles, Dennis Lefebvre, Ken Cloutier, and Keith Cunningham. The event was split into two times to play — a morning scramble and an afternoon scramble with all scores competing. Prizes were awarded for the top three teams, closest to the pin, and longest drive.
The American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter staff extended appreciation to the tournament sponsors, prize contributors, golfers, and volunteers for their support and dedication.
The golf tournament is one of the Pioneer Valley Chapter’s primary fund-raising events. The local arm of the American Red Cross relies upon voluntary community support for its services and programs. To support the work of the chapter, send tax-deductible financial contributions to American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter, 506 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104.
