United Way Honors Baystate Mary Lane Hospital

WARE — Baystate Mary Lane Hospital was recognized at the recent United Way of Hampshire County Campaign celebration luncheon.

The Spirit of Community Award was presented to BMLH for its outstanding support of the United Way, as hospital employees raised more than $11,000 during this year’s campaign.

Despite these difficult economic times, our employees increased their donations by 33{06cf2b9696b159f874511d23dbc893eb1ac83014175ed30550cfff22781411e5} this year,” said Stephen Williams, co-chair of the campaign and manager of Food and Environmental Services at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital. Williams was joined by fellow employee and co-chair Michelle Holmgren in this year’s successful campaign.

Williams was also honored at the event for five years of service as co-chair of the hospital’s United Way Campaign. “The United Way provides vital funding to many nonprofit agencies in our local communities,” he said. “I am committed to this because, as a result, many in crisis can be cared for, greatly improving the lives of the most vulnerable in the many communities we serve.”

Joan Sullivan, president of Baystate Mary Lane Hospital, noted that “we commend Stephen Williams for his continued commitment to the United Way, and also very pleased with the generosity of our employees and the success of this year’s United Way campaign. Our dedicated team of health care professionals consistently deliver high-quality patient care and also demonstrate their support for the community that that they live and work in.”
