Red Cross Touts CNA Training
SPRINGFIELD — In today’s economy, many local residents are looking for ways to increase their employability. The American Assoc. of Colleges of Nursing reports that the U.S. is projected to have a nursing shortage that will intensify as Baby Boomers age and the need for health care grows.
Certified nurse assistant (CNA) classes at the American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter offer an affordable option for people seeking an introduction to the field of nursing.
The American Red Cross has been involved in nursing for more than 100 years. In addition to training nurse assistants, providing disaster relief, organizing blood drives, and teaching water safety, the Red Cross has provided first-aid and safety instruction to generations of Americans. The nurse assistant course continues the Red Cross tradition of training that benefits participants and their communities.
The Pioneer Valley Chapter offers a combined day or evening nurse assistant and home health aide training program. After successfully completing this program, students are eligible to apply for the Massachusetts state examination to become a CNA and will have the skills to work in any health care environment. Classes are offered at both the chapter’s Springfield and Northampton training centers.
To learn about class offerings, contact the Pioneer Valley Chapter at (413) 737-4306, or visit www.redcrosscwm.org. Trainings are offered on an ongoing basis at a variety of times. Phlebotomy and EKG technician courses are also available. Check the Web site regularly for class schedules, or call the chapter for additional details.
