Sleep Program at BMLH Receives Full Accreditation

WARE — The Sleep Program at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital, part of the Baystate Regional Sleep Program, has received full accreditation by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). The accreditation is for a five-year period, and is the result of a two-year planning and implementation project completed while working alongside affiliate hospital Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

According to Dr. Jay Fleitman, medical director of the Baystate Regional Sleep Program at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital, “accreditation through the AASM is a voluntary activity; it demonstrates that the hospital has met the rigorous standards set forth by the AASM. The Sleep Program provides clinical diagnostic services for patients with sleep disorders. We are proud to offer advanced and comprehensive sleep service which provide the very latest high-technology testing and diagnosis for all types of sleep disorders right here in Ware.”

Staffed with physicians board-certified in pulmonology and sleep medicine, and highly trained and registered sleep technologists, the Baystate Regional Sleep Program exclusively offers 16-channel polysomnography studies, the gold standard according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, said Fleitman. “Our sleep clinic provides an opportunity for our patients to be evaluated for a variety of sleep disorders, and we offer follow-up care and facilitate any other necessary services that might be needed after the sleep study.”
