Stop & Shop Awards Tuition Support to Mont Marie
HOLYOKE — Several children will receive financial aid to attend the Mont Marie Child Care Center thanks to the generosity of the Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. Representatives of the company recently presented the day-care center with a check in the amount of $1,750 for tuition support for low-income families.
Sr. Eleanor Harrington, director of the Mont Marie Child Care Center, said the corporate donation comes at a critical time. “Stop & Shop’s commitment to our efforts to provide quality early-childhood education for the underserved in the Holyoke area is extremely important during this time when so many of our families are in dire need of financial assistance,” she said. “We appreciate Stop & Shop’s generosity and support.”
Making the presentation to Harrington were Linda Conroy, customer service manager at the Northampton Street store in Holyoke; Mark Puza, store manager at the Lincoln Street store in Holyoke; and District Manager Dale Duquette.
The Mont Marie Child Care Center provides care to more than 100 preschoolers from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
