The Loomis Communities to Honor Carol Constant, Peter Courtney at Spring Reception
SOUTH HADLEY — The Loomis Communities will hold its annual Spring Reception on Wednesday, May 22 at 4:30 p.m. at Loomis Village, 20 Bayon Dr., South Hadley. Proceeds from this year’s event will directly benefit and impact the development of the Loomis Communities’ new OpenView dementia-care program across all three campuses in the Pioneer Valley.
More information and links to register can be found at www.loomiscommunities.org/spring-reception-2. Mor than 150 people are expected to attend this annual event.
At this year’s Spring Reception, the Loomis Communities will honor Carol Constant with the Elvira Whiting Ball Award for Outstanding Service to Older Adults. Constant is a former longtime director of Development & Community Engagement for the Loomis Communities who has devoted much of her life to improving the lives of those with dementia, as well as those caring for them. Constant joined the Loomis Communities as director of Development in July 2007 and served as director of Community Engagement from 2013 to 2021.
Peter Courtney a longtime Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing resident, will be honored with the Loomis Communities’ Award for Inspirational Aging. Courtney has resided at Loomis Lakeside since 2016 and spearheaded the rehabbing of the woodworking shop on the retirement-community campus in 2018, which continues to be a passion of his that he shares with other residents. Courtney has also served in many important and inspiring roles as he evolves, improves, and reinvents himself, such as pastor, community leader, woodworker, caregiver, and more.
“Our annual Spring Reception allows us an opportunity to celebrate those who have made contributions to improving senior living in the Loomis Communities or the community at large,” said Margaret Mantoni, president and CEO of the Loomis Communities.
“In Carol Constant, we celebrate one of our own who led the way in connecting Loomis with best practices in the care of those afflicted with memory impairments. We also celebrate a current resident who represents a model of how to approach and appreciate living in our senior years. Peter Courtney is certainly an example of that, and his initiative and talent in establishing and maintaining a woodworking shop at Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing is testimony to his zest for living.”
