GCC, Hilltown Youth Recovery Theater to Host ‘Unplugged & Connected’ on June 5
GREENFIELD — Greenfield Community College (GCC), in collaboration with the Hilltown Youth Recovery Theater, announced “Unplugged & Connected: A Youth-led Dialogue on Digital Well-being” on Friday, June 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at GCC.
The event will feature a youth-led panel discussion focused on digital health, mindful presence, and mental health for young people. Speakers will address the impacts of technology, social media, and connection on mental health, with youth voices leading the conversation.
The panel will be moderated by Michael Tsappis, an attending psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry and the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital, an instructor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, and a co-founder of the Clinic for Interactive Media and Internet Disorders, a center for treatment, research, and education about problematic interactive media use.
The event is free and open to the public, including educators, healthcare and service providers, parents, and community members. A complimentary dinner will be included for attendees. Learn more and register by visiting gccfor.me/unplugged.
This dialogue is the first day of a weekend-long intensive at Greenfield Community College and the Hilltown Youth Recovery Theater in Heath. The weekend is structured to provide both community-wide education and an immersive experience for youth. Teens and college-age youth (ages 11-24) who register for and attend all three weekend events will receive a $100 stipend.
This program is co-sponsored by Hilltown Youth Recovery Theater and Greenfield Community College and supported by a grant from the United Way, alongside numerous local foundations, state agencies, and community partners.
