The Loomis Communities Welcomes Kristen Lamoureux as Executive Director of Applewood

AMHERST — The Loomis Communities, the longest-serving provider of senior living in the Pioneer Valley, announced Kristen Lamoureux as the new executive director at Applewood retirement community in Amherst.

Lamoureux has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and management, most recently serving as vice president of Recovery Environments at Community Healthlink/UMass Memorial Health, where she oversaw residential programs and housing for adults with co-occurring mental-health and substance-use disorders. Prior to that, she served as vice president at the Arc of Opportunity, where she oversaw programming and support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Lamoureux began her career as a mental-health clinician, working with people of all ages. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Assumption University and her master’s degree in forensic psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is also a certified executive and leadership coach.

Applewood is an independent-living community in Amherst. Residents of Applewood have priority access to skilled nursing care, should it ever be needed, at its sister community, Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing in Springfield. Applewood is currently undergoing an $8.5 million capital-improvement project expected to be completed in the spring of 2024, adding nine new apartments, new meeting spaces, an expanded library, and a new courtyard garden.
