Trinity Health Of New England Announces Local Job Cuts
HARTFORD, Conn. — Trinity Health Of New England plans to eliminate more than two dozen positions across its medical practices in Agawam, Chicopee, and Springfield by the end of 2021. Impacted specialties include adult medicine, allergy, behavioral health, dermatology, physiatry, plastic surgery, and rheumatology.
In a statement, the Connecticut-based provider attempted to cast the service cuts — which have been tied to declining revenue across the Trinity organization, particularly at Mercy Medical Center — in a positive light.
“As a result of ongoing careful consideration, we are implementing necessary changes to allow us to more effectively meet the needs of our community going forward,” the statement reads. “In keeping with our mission to serve our community as a healing presence, we are working with existing patients to ensure a smooth transition of care as needed.
“Our commitment to impacted colleagues remains a top priority,” Trinity continued. “We will make every effort to retain colleagues who wish to remain with our health ministry and can be appropriately matched with alternate positions within the organization.”
