NORTHAMPTON — For the past 23 years in celebration of National Nutrition Month (March), the Western Area Massachusetts Dietetic Assoc. The healthf begins at 9 a.m., and the run/walk goes off at 11 a.m. Prizes will be awarded in all age categories, and nutritious and delicious snacks will be available after the race. This is a family-friendly event and a flat and safe course for beginning runners. To register online, visit www.racewire.com.
WAMDA is a group of nutrition professionals (registered dietitian nutritionists) who live and work in Western Mass. and are concerned about food insecurity in their communities. To improve the health and nutritional status of their patients and clients, their goal is to ensure that all people have access to healthful food.
This year, the WAMDA Fitness 5K Run/Walk and Health Fair is again partnering with the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, which provides individuals facing hunger with the food they need to survive, and leads communities toward long-term solutions to the problem of hunger in the region. Serving the four counties of Western Massachusetts, the Food Bank is the leading provider of emergency food that reaches individuals and families with lower incomes.
