WAMDA, Chikmedia to Host Live Virtual Social-media Workshop for Nutrition Professionals

WESTERN MASS. — The Western Area Massachusetts Dietetic Assoc. (WAMDA) will partner with Chikmedia to host a live, virtual social-media workshop for nutrition professionals on Tuesday, April 7. These local businesses are teaming up to help nutrition professionals develop a better understanding of social media and how it can be a useful resource in their practice.

The workshop will cover all the ins and outs of the social-media platforms needed to fuel the success of a campaign. Trends, demographics, and successful tips will be covered in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the latest advancements in social media and help develop professional goals that utilize digital advertising. The workshop will cover the must-haves for a professional online presence and will teach what types of content works best, and where you should be posting it in order to engage more followers.

The workshop will be presented by Meghan Rothschild, president and owner of Chikmedia, and will take place virtually from 5 to 7 p.m. To RSVP for the workshop, guests should e-mail wamdaprogramming@gmail.com. The cost of the event is $10 for WAMDA members, $15 for non-members, and $5 for students and interns.

WAMDA, a partner in this event, is an organization of nutrition professionals in Massachusetts whose members have expertise in many areas of food, nutrition, and dietetics. This workshop directly aligns with the WAMDA’s mission to encourage and implement continuing education, while promoting optimal nutrition and well-being for their community, its people, and nutrition professionals.

“Nutrition professionals are constantly learning new information about science and clinically based topics, but to be successful in today’s world, we also need to be well-versed in social media and marketing,” said Lauren Smith, program planner at WAMDA. Using social media is a great way to get our scientifically based information out quickly and combat some of the misinformation that is so readily available. We are really excited to offer this program as an opportunity for our members to learn about best practices and ways to use social media effectively.”

Meghan Rothschild, owner and president of Chikmedia, added that “this workshop is intended to be for all levels of social-media users: those who have just started, and those who are looking to fine-tune their skills. In today’s world, keeping up to date on the latest is critical to success, and this workshop will do just that.”
