Westfield Cardiology Begins Defibrillator Implant Surgeries

WESTFIELD — Drs. Mehdi Pajouh and Abendra Naidoo recently announced that implantable cardioverter defibrillators (also called ICDs) are now being implanted by Westfield Cardiology at Noble Hospital in Westfield.

These devices are surgically inserted into patients with certain cardiac diseases to prevent sudden cardiac death. The ICD is a device that monitors heart rhythms and delivers shocks if dangerous rhythms are detected.

Naidoo, a board-certified cardiologist and electrophysiologist, performs these lifesaving procedures. He recently joined Pajouh at Westfield Cardiology and brings years of experience to the practice of evaluating patients with electrical abnormalities of the heart and implantation of devices such as the ICD.

Prior to joining Westfield Cardiology, Naidoo was trained at Harvard University and served as an assistant professor at New York University for many years.
