Berkshire Radiological Associates Receives ACR Accreditation

PITTSFIELD — Berkshire Radiological Associates has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Mammography as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology.
The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Va., awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their finding to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.

The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/ interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, and medical physicists with programs for focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.

Berkshire Radiological Associates (BRA) is a group of board-certified Radiologists who have served Berkshire County since 1976. The practice recently opened a $3.5 million state-of-the-art imaging facility at 610 North Street in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, where it provides CT scanning, ultrasound, biopsies, bone density, mammography, X-Ray and consultations and second opinions. BRA also founded the Levine Women’s Imaging Center – a private separate facility for women, also located at 610 North Street, which is the first of its kind in the region.
