Cancer House of Hope to Host Lecture on Nutrition During Treatment

WEST SPRINGFIELD — Rachel Sapelli will present a lecture titled “Nutrition During Cancer Treatment” on Wednesday, September 13 at 5:30 p.m. at CHD Cancer House of Hope, 1999 Westfield St., West Springfield. A smoothie-making demonstration will follow the lecture.

Sapelli, a registered dietitian and nutritionist with a master’s degree in nutrition and health promotion, is the oncology dietitian at the Sister Caritas Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center. She completed her education and training through Simmons College, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

Sapelli’s presentation is part of the Cancer Education Series presented by the Sister Caritas Cancer Center. Advance registration is requested, and the lecture is free and open to all. To register, call CHD Cancer House of Hope at (413) 733-1858.

Joe Kane, Cancer House of Hope program director, expressed his gratitude to the Sister Caritas Cancer Center for sharing its expertise through the lecture series. “Getting proper nutrition during cancer treatment can be a challenging and sometimes overlooked necessity. I hope people can take advantage of this interactive and fun presentation by Rachel, who is a knowledgeable and nurturing dietitian.”

CHD Cancer House of Hope works to enhance the lives of people with cancer and those who care about them by providing emotional, educational, social, and spiritual support. The house provides a range of cancer-support services and relaxation programs at no cost to those who face this devastating disease. Each year, CHD Cancer House of Hope serves 500 guests. All money donated to the house directly impacts programming and the people served.
