Children’s Miracle Network Hits Record

SPRINGFIELD — The annual Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Telethon, staged May 31 and June 1, received a record $610,058 in pledges from Western New England residents and corporations.

This was the eighth consecutive year that more than $500,000 was raised during the telethon in support of local health care programs for children. Last year’s total was $500,000.

Since its first broadcast in 1987, the CMN telethon has raised more than $7 million, which has been used to fund nearly 540 projects, including construction and renovation, the purchase of new equipment, and support for new and ongoing programs at Baystate Medical Center Children’s Hospital in Springfield, Mary Lane Hospital in Ware, Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, and Visiting Nurse Assoc. and Hospice of Western New England.

Ted and Barbara Hebert, owners of Teddy Bear Pools and Spas; and John and Diana King, whose son was cared for in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baystate Medical Center, served as co-chairs for this year’s event.
