Cooley Cares for Kids Program Benefits Area Children

NORTHAMPTON — Through Friday, July 2, Cooley Dickinson will host the Cooley Cares for Kids program, which benefits area children. This year, all proceeds raised will go toward new pediatric rooms in Cooley Dickinson’s Emergency Department.

When facing an illness or injury, a visit to an emergency room can be a very frightening experience for both a child and their parents. The pediatric emergency rooms are designed to provide the high-quality care of an ER, but in a more calming setting, creating the opportunity for children and their families to move through their experience in the Emergency Department in a more comfortable, less stressful manner.

The Emergency Department at Cooley Dickinson treats approximately 3,300 pediatric patients each year. Two new pediatric-friendly emergency rooms (which can also be used appropriately for adult patients when there are no children in the department) will more comfortably accommodate pediatric patients and their families by providing them with a child- and family-centric environment during a visit.

Visit one of the participating Cooley Cares for Kids locations to support important services for area children: the Cedar Chest at Thornes Marketplace (www.explorecedarchest.com), Finck & Perras Insurance Agencies (finckandperras.com), WEBS yarn store (www.yarn.com), and the Cooley Dickinson Gift Shop.
