Dakin to Host ‘It’s a Smalls World’ on Nov. 23

SPRINGFIELD — Dakin Humane Society will commemorate the biggest shopping day of the year by presenting ‘Black Friday: It’s a Smalls World’ at both its Springfield and Leverett Adoption Centers.

Hours at the Springfield location are 12:30-5:30 p.m., hours in Leverett are 12:30-4:30 p.m.

The organization will cut the adoption fees for small (non-cat and non-dog) animals in half for that day. This includes birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, chinchillas, hamsters, mice and rats (depending on availability).

According to Carmine DiCenso, executive director at Dakin, “At this time of year many of us think about our families, and animals are often an important part of that.  They provide a great deal of love and comfort to people, and help everyone have a sense of family. Our Black Friday adoption events are meant to make adoption available to as many folks as possible, so we hope we’ll see lots of new family members welcomed at both our Leverett and Springfield Adoption Centers.”

Dakin Humane Society delivers effective, innovative services that improve the lives of animals in need and the people who care about them from its two locations in Leverett and Springfield. The organization shelters, treats and fosters more than 12,000 animals each year and has performed more than 77,000 spay/neuter surgeries since 2009, making it New England’s largest spay/neuter provider. Dakin is a local non-profit organization that relies solely on contributions from individuals and businesses
