Kimball Farms Life Care to Host Discussion with Author Joan Ditzion

LENOX — Kimball Farms Life Care will host author Joan Ditzion, co-author of Women Growing Older – Our Bodies Ourselves on Thursday, Nov. 8 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Kimball Farms, 245 Walker St. in Lenox.

This workshop will explore some of the key aspects that affect health and social, emotional, and sexual well-being. Together, Ditzion says, we need to embrace aging, change the aging paradigm, and affirm women’s potential for growth and development in the second half of life so that women over 60 can age well with a sense of power and purpose.

The presentation will allow time for participants to share their experiences and questions. Seating is limited. Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP to (413) 637-7002 by Thursday, Nov. 1.

An author, speaker, and educator, Ditzion has been a geriatric social worker since 1985, a profession compatible with her social-justice values. Her focus has gradually transitioned to the issues of aging and older women and families, combating sexism and ageism and fostering positive aging and the vitality of feminist values in her writing, clinical work, teaching, speaking, workshops, and advocacy work.

Ditzion was awarded the Alumni Special Recognition Award by the Simmons School of Social Work Alumni Assoc. in 2012, the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Assoc. of Social Workers in 2013, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Assoc. of Social Workers in 2016.
