NORTHAMPTON — Robin K. Kline, MSW, has been hired as director of Volunteer Services at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Kline began her position in September, replacing former director Phyllis Maggiolino, who retired in late August.Kline comes to Cooley Dickinson from the Holyoke Chamber of Commerce, where she was manager of Workforce Development. Several years ago, Kline was the director of Volunteer Services at Brightside for Families and Children, a member of the Sisters of Providence Health System.
As director of volunteer services at CDH, Kline is responsible for recruiting, scheduling, and training volunteers as well as matching up volunteers with appropriate assignments both in the hospital and at the Amherst Outpatient Center. Currently, there are more than 200 volunteers, ranging in age from 16 to 92, who work in or with most hospital departments. A sampling of volunteer assignments include preparing food in the coffee shop, delivering mail to hospital departments, greeting patients and visitors, selling merchandise in the gift shop, and taking photos of newborns in the Childbirth Center.
Kline said her long-term goals include expanding volunteer services as part of the hospital’s customer service program.
As part of her new role, Kline also works with the hospital’s Auxiliary, a group of more than 600 volunteers that provides resources and support to Cooley Dickinson’s patients and families. |
