Lusa To Lead Diabetes Education Program At Berkshire VNA

PITTSFIELD — The Berkshire Visiting Nurse Assoc. has named Candace Lusa, RN to lead its Diabetes Self Management Education program.
Lusa most recently served as clinical director for the Berkshire VNA, responsible for all of the agency’s clinical operations.

The Berkshire VNA Diabetes Self Management Education Program is designed to optimize clinical and economic outcomes for patients with diabetes.

The program will make it possible for BMC to provide needed education services to the patients and families with a team approach based on national standards.

The program will serve as a core building block for a comprehensive outpatient service with expanded diabetes service in the future and will be developed to be eligible for American Diabetes Assoc. recognition.

Prior to serving as clinical director for the Berkshire VNA, Lusa was the clinical nursing manager for the agency, a position she held for six years.

Previously, Lusa was a community health nurse for the VNA. In addition, she held numerous positions at BMC from 1978 to 1991, when she joined the Berkshire VNA.

Lusa received her diploma in Nursing from the Holyoke Hospital School of Nursing. She has a bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration from St. Joseph College in Maine and a master’s degree in Nursing from Russell Sage College in Troy, N.Y.
