Massachusetts Banks Join Together to Raise Funds For ALS Research
BOSTON — The Mass. Bankers Assoc. announced that five member banks — Avidia Bank, Berkshire Bank, Blue Hills Bank, Eastern Bank, and Rockland Trust — have joined together to support ALS One, a nonprofit looking to raise at least $1 million this month to help find a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerois (ALS).
ALS One recently launched “A Thousand for A Thousand,” a social-media campaign that targets small-business owners, with a goal of raising at least $1,000 from at least 1,000 businesses during the month of May, which is both National Small Business Month and ALS Awareness Month.
Massachusetts banks have joined hundreds of local businesses, doctors, and researchers in an effort to direct small-business owners and the general public to www.alsone.org/thousand, where anyone can make a donation and learn more about the campaign.
