Noble Named Primary Stroke Center
WESTFIELD — Noble Hospital was recently accredited as a primary stroke treatment center by the Mass. Dept. of Public Health.
The announcement was made after the DPH conducted an on-site survey of the hospital. The certification means that Noble meets national standards for identifying and treating ischemic strokes, a type in which rapid diagnosis and treatment can be crucial.
“This reflects Noble Hospital’s commitment to providing the highest standard of care to its patients,” said Francis Horrigan, M.D., vice president of Medical Affairs.
Horrigan said that achieving the certification was a team effort. Armand Aliotta, M.D., a neurologist and member of the Noble medical staff is the stroke service coordinator. Other members of the team include Stanley Strzempko, M.D., chief of Emergency Services, Janet Dermody, R.N., nurse manager of ICU and Telemetry, Ann Reichert, R.N., nurse manager for Continuous Quality Improvement/ Education, Felicia Bycenski, R.N., nurse manager for the Emergency Department, Denzil Reid, M.D., Intensivist, Joseph Ely, manager of the Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging, Paul Gagnon, D.O., assistant chief of Diagnostic Imaging, Mary O’Neill, community relations director, and Horrigan.
