Future Caregivers

Members of the public were recently invited to learn about health careers, and watch students in action, at an open house at Springfield Community Technical College.

Mary Beth Sienkiewicz, a Clinical Laboratory Science student, demonstrates a blood draw.

Surgical Technology students Nicole White, Cynthia Mike, and Linda Bickford(left to right) demonstrate a surgical procedure using a patient simulator.

Directly below, Lisa Rapp, who chairs the Biotechnology program, presides over a simulated murder scene, with forensic testing equipment on display nearby.

Sharon Hilton of the Dental Hygiene faculty simulates a procedure on Michael Balenti as Darlene Kennedy observes; both are students in the department.

Simply the Best
Wing Medical Center in Wilbraham was honored at the recent Best of Boston Road gala sponsored by the Boston Road Business Association. Accepting the award for Best Health/Dental Service on Boston Road are (left to right) Linda Schoonover, MD; Judy Howard, RN; and Pam Paton, nurse practitioner. At far right is Sy Becker, who emceed the gala.

Festive Scenes
Ron Carroll, chef and baker at Rockridge Retirement Communities, recently surprised residents with four winter scenes created entirely from gingerbread, frosting, and candy.
