Porchlight VNA/Home Care Raises Funds for Low-income Seniors

CHICOPEE — Porchlight VNA/Home Care will host its first annual tag sale and bake sale on Saturday, July 25 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2024 Westover Road, Chicopee. Say Cheese Food Trailer will also make its first appearance in Chicopee, the hometown of owner Teri Goulette.

As a nonprofit home-healthcare agency, Porchlight raises funds to ensure its programs and services are available to the community. This event will benefit the Low Income Fund, which allows clients that have fallen on hard times or may not be able to afford services to remain in the agency’s care.

Without the Low Income Fund, many seniors would not have the assistance of certified nursing assistants, homemakers, or other caregivers when they are at their most vulnerable due to illness or frailty. In the past, the fund has been used by clients struggling to make mortgage payments and pay medical bills after an unexpected illness has left them homebound and in need of home healthcare.

The event will feature donations of goods for sale from many locals, staff, and clients wishing to support the nonprofit’s mission of providing quality care to all in need in the community. Donations for the tag sale and bake sale are welcome for dropoff at the Chicopee Branch until 4 p.m. on July 24.
