With COVID-19 on the Rise, Cooley Dickinson Hospital Updates Visitor Policy

NORTHAMPTON — Due to high rates of COVID-19 in the community and per new public-health guidance, including from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, which is being applied to all Mass General Brigham facilities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, Cooley Dickinson Hospital encourages visitors to delay their visit until a later date when there are lower rates of community transmission.

Effective immediately, hospitalized patients are allowed one visitor within a 24-hour period; a support person is considered in addition to the single visitor. Visiting hours at Cooley Dickinson Hospital are daily from 2 to 8 pm.

There are no changes to Cooley Dickinson’s visitor policy related to the Emergency Department, Childbirth Center, Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit, Surgical Day Care, Endoscopy, or Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology suite.

Due to high patient volume and the need to focus on the patients who require emergency care, COVID-19 testing for individuals do not have symptoms is not currently available in the Emergency Department. A list of available testing locations is available at www.mass.gov/info-details/find-a-covid-19-test.
