Second Chance Animal Services to Host Ninth Annual Golf Tournament to Help Pets in Need

EAST BROOKFIELD — Second Chance Animal Services will host its ninth annual golf tournament to benefit programs helping pets in need on Saturday, July 10 at Heritage Country Club in Charlton. The event will feature an 18-hole round of golf, luncheon, raffles, and a limited silent auction beginning online in advance and accepting final bids in person until lunch is served.

Development Director Lindsay Doray highlighted the importance of the charity tournament. “Second Chance helps over 40,000 pets a year through programs aimed at keeping pets out of shelters and in their homes with the people they love, as well as providing refuge and hope to pets who find themselves homeless,” she said. “The funds raised by this event help make all these programs possible.”

Doray is grateful to ‘chip sponsors’ Leicester Spine & Wellness, Herlihy Insurance Group, and other sponsors showing their support for pets in the community. Sponsorships packages are still available at a variety of levels, and more information can be found on the nonprofit’s website.

Check-in begins at 7 a.m., and the tournament tees off with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. in a scramble format with foursomes. If a golfer makes a hole in one on a designated hole, he or she can win a spa courtesy of Teddy Bear Pools. The tournament will be followed by a luncheon at which prizes will be awarded to the tournament and challenge-game winners.

A limited number of tickets remain, and golfers are encouraged to purchase their tickets soon. Golfers of all levels are welcome. For complete information, including auction and golf tickets, visit www.secondchanceanimals.org/events/golf.
