STCC to Offer Two CNA Classes Starting March 18
SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Technical Community College will offer two Certified Nurse Aide classes, CNA 1 and CNA 2, starting Monday, March 18.
CNA 1, the Nurse Aide and CPR Certificate Program is designed for students seeking entry-level job skills to enter the healthcare field. Students prepare for the Massachusetts State Board Examination to become a certified nurse aide and receive certification in CPR.
CNA 2, the CNA Plus Program, also prepares students for the state board examination to become a CNA and receive certification in CPR. In addition, CNA 2 includes home health aide training to prepare the CNA to provide care in a patient’s home. Students will also learn about Alzheimer’s disease and related neurological disorders.
In both classes, students learn to care for residents in long-term-care facilities and will practice the following skills: personal patient care, patient rights, lifting and turning patients, safety, infection control, bed, bath and feeding, vital signs, record keeping, mental healthcare of residents, and stress management. The program is approved by the state Division of Health Care Quality.
