Armbrook Village to Host ‘Memories in the Making’ Art Training Program

WESTFIELD — On Wednesday, Nov. 7, Armbrook Village will host a “Memories in the Making” art training program from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program is open to individuals who work with residents or patients who have Alzheimer’s disease or other related dementias in assisted-living and memory-care units, nursing homes, adult day health centers, councils on aging, and memory cafes.

Amy Porchelli, art therapist, will be facilitating the training. Participants will learn how to run art programs for people with memory disorders. It focuses more on self-expression and reminiscing. Facilities that take part in the training may have their artwork exhibited at the Painting the Face on Alzheimer’s Gala on April 13 at the Log Cabin. You do not need to be an artist to attend the training.

The cost is $50, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Credit cards are not accepted. To register or for more information, call (413) 568-0000 to register or ask for Beth Cardillo for more information. Armbrook Village is a senior-living community located at 551 North Road in Westfield.
