BHN Invites Community to Listening Sessions on Mental Health, Substance Use

SPRINGFIELD — Behavioral Health Network (BHN), in partnership with the city of Springfield Department of Health and Human Services, is hosting a series of Community Listening Sessions to hear directly from residents about their experiences accessing mental health and substance use services.

These sessions are designed to create a welcoming space for community members to share their perspectives, identify gaps in care, and help shape a more responsive and accessible system of support.

• LGBTQIA+ Listening Session: Saturday, May 23, 10 a.m., Springfield Central Library, Community Room, 220 State St., Springfield.

• Mason Square Neighborhood Sessions: Thursday, June 4, Elder Session at 11:30 a.m. and Public Session at 5:30 p.m., Raymond A. Jordan Senior Center, 1476 Roosevelt Ave., Springfield.

BHN invites community members to share their experiences and insights, including challenges finding mental health or substance use support, barriers to understanding available services, and ideas for improving access and care. All are welcome to attend, and participants are encouraged to share as much or as little as they feel comfortable.

“These conversations are an opportunity for us to listen and learn,” Senior Vice President Kathy Mague said. “Community feedback is essential to helping us improve access to care and better respond to local needs.”

For those unable to attend in person, BHN is also offering an online feedback form to ensure more voices can be heard. For more information or to access the feedback form, visit www.bhninc.org.
