The Brightside Golf Classic celebrated its 25th anniversary on July 25 and raised more than $150,000 to support programs and services at Brightside for Families and Children in West Springfield.

More than 300 golfers played on three local courses — Crestview Country Club in Agawam, Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow, and Springfield Country Club in West Springfield. Sixty local businesses sponsored this year’s event, including 16 local banks that donated $5,000 each.

This year´s tournament co-chairs were Dick Collins, President of United Bank and Dave Glidden, Regional President of Banknorth.

“We are extremely grateful to Dave Glidden and Dick Collins, the business community and all those who support the children at Brightside by participating in this longstanding event,” said Vincent J. McCorkle, president and chief executive officer of Sisters of Providence Health System, parent of Brightside.

Next year´s tournament will be held on Monday, July 24, 2006.
